BOOK REVIEW

PORTSMOUTH ‘TIL I DIE: The Voices of Pompey Supporters
(Legends Publishing)

History may record dates and the big events but memories remember the little things; the atmosphere, the unusual and the personalities. This book is a collection of memories from Pompey supporters remembering incidents in their and the club’s history from the 1920’s to the present day.

It is no surprise that the recent Cup Final victory features highly in everyone’s memories, but there are wonderful memories of some of the big, and not so big, games from former years that will stir the memories of those old enough to share those occasions, and inspire those with a life-time of support ahead of them.

I am sure there are plenty who will question why some games and seasons do not feature and could add their own stories, but this is a book based on its contributors and these are the memories important to them. Through their memories you will relive the joy, the frustration and the sheer roller-coaster of emotions that is Portsmouth Football Club.

This is a book which complements the formal histories of the club, for it shows the way the supporters viewed those games, and the important place the club holds in their hearts. At £10 this is an affordable and easy read.
